GARDENING LEAVE.

After last week’s drama, my family have put me on ‘gardening leave’, with strict instructions not to go wandering in the hills or climbing at Craig Y. I’m happy to go along with that as I’m still tired, very bruised and stiff following my chair encounter and subsequent hospital stay.  I couldn’t shoulder a rucksack at present. And so much is happening in the garden at this time of year.

I’ll try not to step on a rake, put a fork through my foot or chop off any fingers.

Trust me to be laid up when the weather is set fair; ah, well, there will be more days like this, I hope, in summer.

And as a bonus, I have more time to watch the antics of Dusty and Oscar.

A good idea to take some time out to recouperate, the hills will still be there once you’re fully recovered. The flowers look very pretty and the kittens look cute. Your mention of stepping on a rake reminds me of my own incident back in the late 90s. I worked for a joiner-builder at the time and was tidying the tool corner in the workshop one day when I stood on the business end of a rake, the handle came up and smacked me square in the face resulting in a nose which took ages to stop bleeding. Ever since then I’ve suffered occasional and very unexpected nose bleeds, usually after a heavy cold and fortunately not very often. The daft thing is, it was the only rake in the workshop and I had to go and stand on it!

It sounds funny now but it wasn’t at the time – it really hurt, and I didn’t think one small nose could produce so much blood!

Sounds very sensible. A sunny garden, therapeutic cats (we have two Norwegian Forest Cats) and a pile of good books will see you well.

Good to read you are on the mend. As you mention still being tired and sore is an indication as to how serious this all was. From what I know you are not an accident prone person which is encouraging and should therefore not inhibit you in pursuing new adventures as and when.
Did you ever finish making the garlic soup?

Thanks Conrad, I’m slowly returning to normal, but my back is very sore.
      Accidents do happen.
No, the soup was sat on the counter for a few days whilst I was in hospital – so I had to throw it away. I’m not tempting fate to forage any more.

A bit of pottering in the garden is good for the soul. I must admit to a bit of self-imposed gardening leave this week. I didn’t fancy sweating up a hill in all this hot weather. Glad you’re on the mend.
