I have come to have laser treatment, YAG, to my right eye, which had blurred 18 months after cataract surgery. Posterior capsule opacification, a common problem. (YAG stands for Yttrium Aluminium Garnet, a synthetic crystal widely used in technology, medicine, and jewellery.)
Drops are used to dilate my pupil, and 15 minutes later, after a few flashes and bangs, I can see perfectly well again. That’s the sort of treatment I like.

Sheds, containers on supermarket carparks, and contracting out to posh private clinics. Still, its easier and cheaper than hospital car parking. Glad that went well. 👍

They must get through a large number of appointments each day there.Only cataracts and laser. All necessary to keep the NHS waiting lists down.
Someone must have conducted an audit to determine whether paying these private companies is economically sound.
Yes, I’ve been taking my father-in law to a clinic in Bamber Bridge, on the Morrisons carpark for his eyes. Also for various scans to a travelling container on the B+Q carpark in Chorley. I’ve got the early stage of cataract in one eye, so I’ll hopefully know my way around by the time they recommend treatment.
