A short post today after all those lengthy ones.
Looking through my photographs of all the sculptures I took in the Yorkshire Sculpture Park I see some interesting shapes in nature. I’ve put a few together for my amusement.
Another time I visit maybe I should just ignore the sculptures and look at the trees.

Nature beats man made every time. I like those white fluffy things – could be feathery birds’ feet or furry shells depending on individual imagination 🙂
The ‘white things’ are a lichen
I liked all the tree roots
That lichen is something I have never seen before and I have spent hours photographing fungi and lichens. Thanks for sharing.
It could have been in better focus but I first provisionally identified it as Schizophyllum commune, Split gill fungus. Then I wondered if it was a leafy lichen, as I replied to Eunice, but I don’t think so.
I will go with my first bet. They are not easy.
Good to see you’ve not lost your eye for spotting a nice bit of fungus. I’m also partial to an expressive tree.
I was mesmerised by some of those tree roots.
Wow those trees and tree roots are amazing and great Fungi/ lichen finds too.
Thanks, they were just images I took in passing. I would like to return to concentrate just on the natural statues in the park.
Very good. As well for Nature, credit must be given to the photographer for having the vision to recognise and compose the shots.
Thanks, but no comment.
I agree – really interesting photos
Thanks. Just a side show really, would be worth another visit.
always notice these roots
Exactly.
Lovely fungi
Thanks. Indeed, all spotted incidentally.
I think one of your pictures – the tree roots – is a sculpture. On the path down from Longside there a number of bronze roots hat do look like the real thing and are located to look just like that.
I was looking for those bronze roots in the path and couldn’t find them but perhaps photographed them by mistake. Serendipity.
Thanks for pointing it out to me.
The roots photo definitely looks like one of the sculptures but there are real roots close to them. But I think your photo is one of the bronzes
The more I look at it I think you are right. I wish at the time I had bent down to touch it.
