I mentioned earlier that I was going to follow the seasons up here on the fell by a regular photographic ‘diary’ of the changing vegetation. Wouldn’t it be great to set up a time lapse camera.
I was up there today and just wanted to share the fragrant blossoms on the Mountain Ash, (Sorbus aucuparia)

Hasn’t the plantation greened up nicely?
If we can mysteriously transmit photos through the ether it is surprising that we haven’t found out how to transmit fragrances (or smells.) I distinguish between those two nouns so perhaps it is a good thing that we can’t do it with smells.
Fragrance is the most appropriate in this case..
That’s a beautiful picture. Actually I think it’s good that we can’t (yet) transmit fragrances. Makes you appreciate the actual real world when you’re in it. The scent of Limes (ie the trees) is the same. The sudden thrill of smelling it for the first time each year is wonderful.
Everywhere I walk I’m sniffing the surroundings, much like a dog!
Spring is well and truly sprung.
At last.
Your reply to Helen T has just made me laugh. Personally I love the scent of hawthorn, I just wish it would last longer than it does. I would love some enterprising perfume manufacturer to produce that fragrance in a bottle.
Today I was comparing the scent of Hawthorn with that of Mountain Ash, I thought the latter won the prize.
I like to go back to a same place at every season to see how nature has changed.
This woodland has become a bit of a special place for me.
