SEEKING FRACTALS.

What is a fractal? I had to ask.

The dictionary says: A fractal is a complicated pattern built from repeated shapes that get smaller and smaller, or larger and larger, each time they repeat, like a tree trunk dividing into smaller and smaller branches and twigs. Other examples in nature include snowflakes, ferns, waves, and lightning.
The mathematical fractal is almost beyond my comprehension, so we will stick with Mother Nature.
Yes, I’m on another chapter of the 52 Ways to Walk book – Walk Deep and Seek Out Fractals.  Now I have an idea of what they are I can search for them on my daily walks.
I did venture out in the eye of storm Boelo, just about able to stand up and all my fractals were blown away.
Before I go out again I’ve just remembered my screen saver is a photograph of a young larch cone which I took earlier in the year. Here it is with all its fractals.

Here are some more I came across. It was good fun searching for them.

I’m beginning to see them everywhere.

There would have been some in last nights fireworks displays.
